Weak 96 LT1....??
Weak 96 LT1....??
Mornin' all...
I recently drove a 96 M6 T/A and it felt very weak compaired to my 96 A4 T/A. It felt like it had no low end tourqe at all. My car has 70k on her vs. 87k on the M6. 17k difference...but that shouldn't explain the big loss in power.
There is a very notable difference in power between the two. The clutch felt a tad slippy, but not enough to cause this much of a drain. The car felt like I was driving a modded 3.8 instead of a 5.7. My A4 is stock except for a 3" Borla cat-back.
Input?

It could be just about anything.... no tuneup for a while, a bad opti, things like that.
When I bought my '95 6 Speed it felt pretty powerful but when I got home and lost a couple of races bad with a few stock LT1s, I realized something was wrong. New opti, new plugs, new wires, new fuel filter and few other things and they started to know how my tail lights looked like.

I know how to drive a stick. My T/A is the 1st automatic I've ever owned. All my previous cars were stick.
Nonetheless, it just concerned me that there is that much of a differcence in power between the two. I'll look further into it... thanks for the input though.

Yeah, they are both used. It is possible that my A4 may have aftermarket gears....but still. The M6 is really lacking in low end tourqe. I'm going to fish around the hood and see what I can do. Probably an all-out tune up. I've yet to change plugs on the LT1...I hear it's a b!tch...
B!tch is a understatement. = )
Just jack the front and lube your arms up. (don't really lube your arms) ; )
If you are going to position your new wires in the factory looms, be careful not to puncture the wire while pressing down on it. Recommend something as straight as a (slotted) screwdriver. Only with padding @ the tip as not to pierce.
Your going to get scraped and raped.
Took me 3hrs the first time.
Goodluck.

What I meant about the SES light not coming on is that the computer isn't reporting any problems. But I'm going to tune it up. Going to search around this forum for good plugs. Recomendations? Plat, no plat?
If you're going to change the plugs, go to Autozone and buy one of their cheap *** spark plug sockets for like $.99 and make one of these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2429520499 because it'll make it much much easier, and only takes a few minutes to make one. I guess I should be putting them freakin things on Ebay, heck, I could sell them for less than half what he is and be happy
