Washed Engine no start :(
The car started but ran like crap, i drove it to the junkyard to get a replacement. Engine looked nice though.
I would suggest letting it sit for a while and dry out.

This morning before work I went and read the codes off the car.
I got no codes at all, just the start code 12 over and over, I seen it goes at least 5 times so Im sure that means no codes currently stored.
I have to leave it for at least a week cause I dont get paid till friday cant cash check till sat then I need to order the opti unless I can get it for close to the same online price locally.
I will try a new coil, icm and plug wires first to see if that cures it.
If not I will just take the coil and icm back but keep the new wires on.
Right now the car is outside which isnt helping at all cause its freezing cold here in MI.
But after today hopefully I will be able to get it back in the garage so it can stay in a heated space for the rest of the week. Will probably have to help my buddy paint the stuff he needs painted so I can use the garage for my car.
Ill keep you all posted.

No... it just never ceases to amaze me that people ask tech questions, and don't bother to take the time to provide all the relevant info. I simple "signature" should be mandatory.
I'm trying to make a point... if you want tech help, please have the courtesy to provide people with all the required info up front, so that others do not waste their time trying to help you, but making suggestions that aren't applicable to your car. You sort of made the guy who tried to help you look bad with your cutesy comment.
I would estimate that IN AN EFFORT TO HELP PEOPLE GET GOOD RESPONSES I type the "why don't you add a signature" suggestion at least 5 times a day.
Sorry if it offended you.... I'll stay out of your threads in the future, except as needed to moderate them.

Your completely right and after your post I noticed I didnt have a sig with my car info, DOH.
Its been a long time since I posted on here and I thought I already setup my car info but I guess not.
Also dont forgot with this car stuff going on and trying to figure out how to get 1hr distance to work and back everyday I do have my mind in other places.
So I am sorry and I do understand and yes it was my fault completely.
I appreciate all the help here and didnt mean to offend the poster that suggested that, like I said it was a good suggestion and it was my fault I didnt pay better attention.
I would say wet wires before the opti, it happened to me. Wires got wet and were arcing to everything. It eventually started and the wires got replaced.
Unvented opti and engine washing is a very bad idea.

yeah im gonna replace the wires first to see what happens.
I really appreciate the input on this, I prob would of went straight for the opti first instead of getting the wires then a coil and icm to test with and see that way.
I just didnt think the opti would poop out after 1 wash when its never gave me a single hickup, even after driving through deep puddles and car washes for the 7k miles ive owned the car.
Ill see if I can borrow the money for them wires before I get paid, I dunno though cause I already had to borrow the $170 for the starter and I dont think the wires will be cheap for GM or something else worth putting on.

Ok got boss to front me on the wires and a coil. Was gonna get the ICM also but couldnt find it in stock somewhere close.
Going to put on wires now and coil, hopefully this does the trick.
Will be picking wife up at 10:30, back around 11 if Im not finished will have to do that so before 12am I should have an answer if it worked, didnt work, was better, was same.
Wish me Luck

Well no luck.
I switched wires and coil and pretty much the same thing.
It seemed to get real close a few times but then it would just start spinning like its getting no spark at all again or start acting like the timming was waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy off, like 180 degrees off.
I got some backfires, something the motor would nearly start and then just start spinning slow, and sometimes it would just stop, this im sure due to the spark going off at the completely wrong time or the spark missing a few cylindars.
So after that Im sure everyone will say its the opti?

Or maybe hit the leak holes on the bottom with some compressed air?
Just tryin to think of anything to save me from buying an opti and doing all the work then waiting for the new one to go since I see so many people replacing aftermarket optis like their oil.
Think I should hit the bottom of it with a heat gun?

I guess I should just stop crying, suck it up and take the thing off to clean it / dry it out / inspect it.
I could just put it back on and try to see if it starts with the water pump still off that way if it doesnt my job is already half way done on replacing with a new one.
