Sorry, but you're wrong. I just called a Mustang owner friend of mine who has the magazine. He looked it up and confirmed that in the article in 5.0 a few months back the Flowmaster 40 series flowed the worst and made the least horsepower of every muffler they tested. It didn't beat any muffler except the stock ones.

Please state the name of the magazine that did this review, so we can see the article for ourselves on their website, or at least post some scanned pictures of the article.

Thank you.

5.0 Mustang Magazine tested 15 mufflers in the December 2002 edition (per their website). Anyone have a copy?

Do you have a link to the article itself?

I wouldn't doubt it.

Two guys around here were using the 4" Flowmaster with the Mufflex system on their cars.

They lost nearly 25 rwhp with the Flowmaster when compared to NO muffler. I expect a little loss when comparing to open exhaust, but that's a RIDICULOUS amount.

The cars are both between 410-450 rwhp.

I have had a single in single out flow on my car for about 2 months now and it doesn't drone at all. i really want to get an 80 series so if anyone has one they woulf like to trade I will happily swap. My muffler is about 2 months old so it is practicaly new.

thanks William

as far as Flowmaster, the only experience i had with their mufflers was good. i picked up .4 over open exhaust. i have nothing but good things to say about them

dont know if anyone caught that or not. those were two 2 chamber 40 series Flowmasters. i had previously had an open exhaust with straight pipe.

now what was that about Flowmaster not performing??

i WILL agree that the 80 series "crossflow" design is for the birds, BUT such is the case with pretty much ANY crossflow muffler. the design is horrible when compared to a "straight through" muffler. i had an 80 series crossflow on my 91 305 FB and noticed no difference in sound OR performance.
