Valve springs/seats/retainers/valve locks
If youre going to have to machine the seats though, you might as well run something nice instead of that crane stuff with the dual spring w/ no damper etc.
Whoever does your heads should know what to do...

From what I read the 10308-1 kit doesn't require machining of the seats, you can just use the L98 seats. I'm assuming the 987/986/985 springs need machining with the 4771 locators right?
The thing is I would like to run the cam on stock heads till the heads are done. Would this be wise or should I really just wait till I have everything together?

Go on Crane's website. I know it will say in the write-up for the spring/retainer package that it will fit stock spring pockets, but they won't. If you look, you'll find that the spring part # 99893 is a 1.46" dia. spring. With the cam you plan on running, I don't think there's going to be a way around using bigger valve springs.

i just picked up a set of the 730-16 titanium retainers and 613-16 10 degree locks for my 500# open springs.
question though. these retainers don't say they are .050" taller installed height. some titanium retainers are. anyone know if these should result in standard installed height.
i have the springs set up just right for my solid roller and i would hate to have to shim them all to keep up the pressure for this set up.
any help on these retainers and locks appreciated.
thanks,
mike
