valve springs

I am working on another lt1. I was wondering if I can get away with running the lt4 hot cam springs with a comp 224/230 cam? I have them on the heads now but not sure if the lift is going to be to great? Any help would be great.

Re: valve springs

I dont think the hotcam springs have a chance of handling that, for one theres most likely not going to be enough clearance to bind on the spring. and for two theres no way theres enough spring pressure to control an xe lobe with the hotcam springs.

Re: valve springs

I've heard quite a few times that the LT4 springs are marginal for the HOTcam. Seems that the .525 lift figure that the HOTcam has is right at the limit for the springs.

Even if your 224/230 has similar lift figures, I'm sure it has more aggressive ramp rates making valve control even more of an issue. I know it's a pain but you really need to get a better set of valvesprings.

Re: valve springs

The last thing you wanna do is break a valve spring and drop a valve. Ever heard the term pay me now or pay me later? You choose but springs are really cheap compared to a rebuild.

Good advice

DO NOT SKIMP ON VALVE SPRINGS, it's about the worse thing you can do in a motor.

Re: valve springs

Don't use the LT4 springs with the CC503.

TreudualWS6 has an incredible guide for using Comp 918s I followed it and I love them with my CC306, search for it, I got slightly used 918s and hardware for like 150...
