valve spring tolerances

valve spring tolerances

When installing the valve springs (comp 918's with a .563 lift cam), what is an acceptable tolerance for the installed height?.....Thanks

I actually measured the spring rate on some of those and found that .035 was about 10#.

Ideally the valve job should be shot with the seats within .005" of each other, that's not hard to do at all. So I would then say your max variance is ~.007"-.008"" because if you have 1.800 and 1.810 you can shim the second to 1.795", same the other direction with the first .015" shim size
