Valve spring ?s
Re: Valve spring ?s
Comp recommends the 986 springs, 740 retainers, and 10 degree valve locks. If you plan on going with a bigger cam those springs won't do any good. The CC 987 spring is a step up, but not necessary for that cam. I had the 986 springs, but I changed my mind on the cam I'm getting. I have 978's now, they're a really good springs. All springs I listed are dual coil. The 986 and 987 will run around 90 bucks, the 978's are about 130.
Re: Valve spring ?s
One is advised to refer to the Cam Card for spring pressures and installed heights. Then look for a spring that will work either with stock seats or machined seats if you have the heads off and are having them worked anyway. JMHO

i have a brand new set of 618s for sell for 50 bucks plus shipping, if your intrested. they are more than enough for the 306, but yet you could run stock lifters.
there 130 on the seat and 360 open at a 1.850 install and you will need comp 4771 seats and 730 retainers. i paid over 100 bucks for them from cmotorsports.
they are also a dual spring.

Getting jus the springs i thought were matched for my 233/239 cam cost me close to 1k and 4 bent valves 5000 miles down the road. So off the with the single springs, and on with the comp dual 978's. 250 bux for the spring pocket machining.
