valve adjustment...not normal ?
Ok, a couple thousand miles ago we put new heads and a new cam on my car. We adjusted my valves with the engine at #1 and #6 TDC to get started spinning the pushrods and ****. Car started, ran it at the track a few times taking it to 6k, no problems. HOWEVER, when I cold start the car the lifters chatter for a few seconds...they are brand new with the cam and heads as I killed a lifter to cause these problems to begin with. Im guessing they are still lose if they do that, I did bend a pushrod at around 5k at the track previously and the only thing I can think of is that the valves were too loose. Should I just put like another 1/4 turn on them or what? I obviously don't want them too tight. Even though they are new, should they chatter any on startup? OEM pushrods and lifters btw. Thanks, any tips would be great, my friend and I just followed the steps on Shoebox's page
