Which vacuum hose is this?

Hi fellas,

I purchased a 93 LT1 T/A - and it's rigged up to say the least.

What is the name of this vacuum hose going to the drivers side throttle body? The other end goes into the throttle body, same side - more toward the firewall.

It looks like the previous owner just slapped a random hose on it. It's very "loose" and I notice an idle drop when I jiggle it. Also, please let me know where I can find an OEM hose to keep it as close to stock as possible.

Thank you!

Re: Which vacuum hose is this?

You seem to be indicating both ends of the hose in question connect to the throttle body, one of them back closer to the firewall. But the throttle body is on the front of the engine, and only has two hose connections (EVAP and PCV system air supply to the passenger side valve cover), both connections on the passenger side of the throttle body, right behind the throttle position sensor.

There are four connections on the passenger side of the intake manifold. One is the PCV valve (valve is pushed into a grommet on the side of the manifold). The vacuum line from the PCV valve is a short piece, looping in a "C" shaped arc to a vacuum connection a couple inches behind the PCV valve. That appears to be the one in your photo.

The other two connections on the passenger side of the intake manifold are the brake booster line (the larger hose in the picture), and the EGR valve vacuum line.

OOPS! Intake manifold** I appreciate you being able to translate my noobie-ism lol

Thanks Injuneer. Any idea the part number or where I can obtain one? Looks like AutoZone doesn't carry them.

This appears to be it. I wonder if I could find it cheaper anywhere?

Re: Which vacuum hose is this?

You can save a couple bucks, but it’s a GM part, so you'll never find it dirt cheap. Here's one source.

Do a search on the part # to see if any discount GM parts dealer has it for less. Try a place like Rock Auto to see if they have cheaper aftermarket versions. Not a high tech part.

Is there a PCV valve in the side of the manifold?

Re: Which vacuum hose is this?

Here's a good source for part #’s, and other useful LT1 info:

4th Gen LT1 F-Body Tech Aids

You will have to keep in mind that your 1993 is the "most unique" LT1 year. Numerous differences from later years. My 94 PCV hose is the same as your 93, why I recognized it. But 1995 and newer is totally different.

Here's a great chart showing the differences from year-to-year:

http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_f-body_ye...onversions.pdf

Note that the chart is applicable to the 1993-1997 F-Body (Camaro and Firebird) versions. The Corvette 1992-1996 versions add even more variations. It’s important to add a "Signature" so people who know the differences from year-to-year can give you accurate help.

Re: Which vacuum hose is this?

Pull it off and cut the ends back 1/2", reinstall and see if it's tight.
