Well here is another update. The car is backfiring like crazy. It will shoot flames out the intake and any vaccum line that is hooked up to it. The IAC is buried at 130 though one time while cranking it it actually went down to 8?, but only for a second. I pulled the MAP down with a vaccum tester. I put about 15inches on it. It pulled the KPa readings down to 50.2 on datamaster. The car will not start now and just keeps backfiring. I put a new coil and ICM on it and there was no change. Can the car start with the vaccum pump hooked to the MAP? mine will not start even with the hole on the manifold plugged. When I turn the key to the ON position datamaster says the MAP is at 9.3 KPa. Is this normal? Could this be opti related?

Did you put a cam in the car?

CANTONRACER, yes I have a cam in the car. It is the XE 230-236 cam and my problems are still not fixed. The car will start up now with a new wiring harness, opti, water pump, wires (found 2 brand new MSD wires arching), plugs, coil, and tried loosening the rocker arms. Still will not idle and keeps fouling out #3 and 5 spark plugs. Also 2,4,6,8 all have gas on them when I take them out, but they fire fine when grounded. I am still lost thanks for the reply.

I also took the front cover off the motor when I did the opti to check the timing marks and they were dead on at 6 and 12. Also it still backfires even with all the changes. I have another ICM I am going to try, but am not hoping for anything.

What I was getting at is the cam in correctly. If it backfires like no tomorrow, maybe it is firing because valves are open when they are not suppossed to be. Injectors are gonna spray and ignition is gonna spark whether that valve is right or not.

Just a thought.
