using MAC Starter pipe with stock CAT??

I am going to use the Starter pipe from the MAC Midlength headers that I just got in order to connect the stock CAT up to the new y-pipe. As a temporary solution until welding. Per the MAC instructions, I am going to cut the stock y-pipe 1" from the stock CAT and hook everything up. Will the stock CAT pipe go inside of the MAC y-pipe or vice versus? I need to know because I will be using an exhaust clamp to temporarily hold it all together until I get it welded up and I need to know what size to get from A-Zone.

Thanks for the help...

Since the end of your cat that attatches to the exhaust already has a flange attatched you can take your stock cat to an exhaust shop and have a male flange welded on the other end, then bolt it up to your Mac Y-pipe.

It gives you a good excuse to drive the car with an open y-pipe.

Thanks for the reply, but the whole point of me doing this is as a temporary hookup before I can get to the exhaust shop. That is a great option, but I have a gutted CAT and plan to have the shop weld in a straight pipe.
