Unplug Knock sensor at the track???
I know I am getting knock...My Hooker LT's sit right on my bmr K-member.....If I am getting false knock from that Would it help my times any to unplug it at the track....Any benefits running full timing???
The first of the year.....I had obd2 pcm in (FOR high stall issues) and swapped it back to my obd-1 all but I had the knock sensor unplugged..I ran the car once.....Because I had not yet recieved my new obd-1 knock sensor, Well I ran ...the car run like a dream ...Ran a 12.3 ....When I run it the next weekend...It would only run....12.7???? About the same temp and everything..Just had my knock sensor plugged in ......So I am thinking my false knock is killing my times......
Any body have any suggestions on the header/ K-member problem??? What can I do about that?????

Re: Unplug Knock sensor at the track???
I am 99% sure that if you unplug the sensor, it goes to the more conservative timing map[pulls timing as if there was knock]
It doesn't 'disable' the KS..
I believe there is a way to 'trick' it with a resistor tho..

Re: Unplug Knock sensor at the track???
When the PCM can't find the knock sensor, it defaults to a programmed knock retard calculation, and you end up with anywhere from 3deg to 15deg knock retard, pretty much on a continuous basis.
I verified this on my setup, where although the stock PCM is still connected, and I can scan it with my ScanMaster, it no longer controls fuel or spark (MoTeC M48Pro takes care of that). I can't run a KS with the solid roller cam so no KS is installed, so the stock PCM routinely shows large knock retard numbers.

Re: Unplug Knock sensor at the track???
Throw in a resistor and single throw double poll switch and "bypass" the knock sensor at the track. I ended up just ditching the KS altogether (permanently bypassed it) after I fought knock retard demons for 2 years.
Make sure you know they are false before bypassing the sensor!
Another way is just to zero out the tables in the pcm, but that would be too easy and you wouldn't get to use tools or get dirty
