Ugh, problem still not fixed!

I thought I fixed it by switching the fuel filter... drove it around and seemed to be working well, but now I get the same problem back. It "hiccups" when I press the gas and it's at low rpm... no rpm drop though... also, if i just let the car idle around at 1000 rpm in any gear, it sounds like something's rattling around in the tranny -- I think I was hearing this before I got this problem though.

Could there be anything wrong with the transmission at 58K miles... or the clutch? It's got a Spec clutch that was put in about 40k miles ago. What about an injector or fouled plug?

Any advice on this?

Rattle?

Check your cat. Mine rattled and was causing a bit of a stumble and power loss too.

Not a rattle... the whole car "hiccups"... it feels like a stall or turning off a diesel engine... or "bogging it out" when you're letting the clutch slip too much and not adding enough gas.

If I cant fix this myself or have it fixed really cheap, screw it... I'm going to just get a new car off the showroom floor and suck it up paying it off over the next few years.

Plug wire that's arcing? How do I go by fixing/repairing this? Just replace the plug wires?

Possibly your Opti going out. That's how mine acted when it was dying. As for the rattle, try pushing in the clutch. If the noise goes away, then it's the throwout bearing. My M6 has always had a loud TO bearing.

You can check them for signs of arcing when it's really dark. Start it up and look under your hood. An arcing wire will flash anywhere it's touching something that'll ground it out.

Yea, I think the other noise is the T/O bearing... I remember noticing it about a year ago.

I think it's time to change the spark plugs and wires too anyway -- been noticing slightly longer ignition times. What do you guys suggest I replace the optispark with -- and the wires/plugs? Would I have any sort of advantage going for a hotter plug?

I wish these things would just run on magnetos!

Ah, another thing that I should have mentioned -- none of this "bogging out" or "hiccuping" happens when it's in neutral and I rev it. Could it still be the opticrap?

Ohhhh, it's taking longer to crank now? That's a sign of a bad fuel pump, or opti. Neither one of them are very fun. I'm leaning more towards your opti being shot now.
