Tune-up?
Tune-up?
I'm thinking something is wrong with my car. I have a very high miss/stop.....at around 5300. It happens only once in a while. The best i can run is 14.1 at the track. I was wondering what all i should do or check to make sure my car is running properly.
Fuel filter is 2 years old (5,000miles)
Plugs and wires were changed last year with header install
throttle body was cleaned a month ago along with filters
I want to check the fuel system.....maybe i get that high miss because the fuel pump is on it's way out...where do you tap in to get the fuel pressure? and what are good numbers?...i've never replaced the pump and don't know if the previous owner did.....(130,000miles) how do you check injectors? Do you need a scan tool to check pulse width?
o yea and what is a good after market fuel pump that will flow enough for 500rwhp
Any and all suggestions welcome

you can check the fuel pressure by using a fuel pressure gauge and attaching it to the schrader valve.
If its missing at high rpms, then it might be the opti going out.
To replace the fuel pump, you either A. have to drop the tank out the bottom of the car, or B. cut a whole in the trunk area to get to the accress hatch that is on the tank where to trunk lies. I think i would go with option B. Just be careful adn use a dremmel tool. The racetronix fuel pump kit is very good i hear, and the aeromotive one is really good (up to 1000hp), but more money.

Cut a hole are you kidding me? I rather pull the whole body than cut a hole in the car. Where is this schrader valve located? I don't believe the opti has ever been replaced
but then again i don't know--i bought the car with about 100,000miles on it. I haven't had the miss in a couple days......it just kindof acts up once in a while so maybe it's the opti going to go out. I plan to do that with the Elec. water pump next year. So i guess just wait and change the opti out? I just don't like a LT1 with CAI running 14.4's and all i can run is 14.1's......kindof imbaressing.
