tune-up

I'm doing a full tune-up on my Z(plugs wires, opti ect..). The guy at the shop told me that i'm better off going with all GM parts so that I don't run into trouble. Is this the best thing to do? or are there better choices out there?

Using GM parts is just a way to spend more money. There are definately better choices for the money/"performance".

Are you having trouble with your opti? I don't consider it a tune-up part...how many miles on your car? I'm not a big fan of the MSD wires; I've had the boots crack (not heat damage) and they certainly won't fit in the stock looms (8.5mm). I personnally like the Accel 9000 wires (8mm) and cheaper that GM wires. As for plugs I'd recommend the stock AC Delco platinum for your mods. They'll give you long life (platinum).

I have about 72k on it right now. I was getting a stumble at low rpm and a hesitation up high, i was told that my opti was soaked in oil from a leak in the crank seal.

I just did the same thing last saturday. New opti, waterpump, plugs, and wires. Took about 10 hours total including getting the wires in the factory looms and such. Not fun.
