Tune or MAF Translator?

Tune or MAF Translator?
I am not quite sure which tables are the fuel tables in Tuner Cat. But, if I did know what they are could I change the partial throttle A/F ratio? Or is the O2’s just going to change the BLM’s to get 14.7? Which makes me ask is the MAF translator the only way to fake the PCM to get 12.5 A/F under partial throttle conditions?
THANKS.
THANKS.

Re: Tune or MAF Translator?
If you have tunercat, dont even bother with the translator. Have the car tuned by a professional that knows what they hell they're doing with the tunercat software
BTW, why would you want 12.5 A/F at part throttle?

Re: Tune or MAF Translator?
Well correct me if I’m wrong but if 12 -13 A/F is best power at WOT why not through the whole band? I want the best power even at part throttle, acceleration, driving through traffic etc. I don’t drive WOT all the way to work.
And I want to learn to tune it. I will have a dyno; I just need to learn what to do with out putting a hole in a piston.

Re: Tune or MAF Translator?
If you want more part throttle power just push the pedal further. The MAF translator has no place on a car that is tunable like these are, some vehicles the pcm is not accessable that is where they are useful. If you set it up to run rich like that the O2s will try to correct for it, WOT will become pig rich, milage will suck and cats and O2s will not last long.

Re: Tune or MAF Translator?
Thanks guys for your input.
Well that’s two that say not to use the translator because these cars are so tunable. But no one seems to know how to tune in part throttle conditions. I’m thinking I could just lock it into open loop and dyno tune the open loop tables. But that can’t be a good way to do it.
I’m thinking these cars are NOT so tunable. It seems to me that the computer is going to stop at nothing until it gets 14.7! WOT we have an advantage because the PCM ignores the O2’s. But if the PCM is using the O2’s I can’t seem to find a way around 14.7.
Yes we can get max power at WOT. But I believe there is power on the table if part throttle is always 14.7.

Re: Tune or MAF Translator?
Like I said if you want more power at part throttle just push the pedal further down, that is what it is there for. Setting it up for other than 14.7 will cause very bad milage and to foul O2s and cats as well as plugs.

Re: Tune or MAF Translator?
You dont want to run it that rich at part throttle. It would be nothing more than a waste of fuel. These cars run lean like any other at part throttle. they perform just fine while doing so. As was said above, you want more power push the pedal down more. You can tune the car part throttle, you just havent figured out tunercat yet. Have a pro do it
