Try to lift the engine out. Please help.

Hi Guys.
I'am going to lift my engine out from my 94 Z28. I don't have a shop car lift, so I only can lift my car up about 18-20" high from the floor. So in this case not so easy to remove the m6 transmission alone. My question is, is it possible to lift the engine out from the body with the transmission on? Or any easier way? I do alone and my wife, but she only give me the tools, when I'am under the car, so she can't help much.
Thank you.

I took my engine and trans (together) out the bottom, by myself. The bottom of the front of the car needs about 36" height.

What did you do with the car after you pulled the engine and trans? Did you leave it in the driveway?

Yeah, I didn't need to go anywhere.

Re: Try to lift the engine out. Please help.

I came out the top as well.

If you can only go 18-20", you may have some 3-ton jack stands...you can get a set of 6-ton jack stands that will go up to 23-24" high, might want to get those...

Anyways, this is pretty much how I did it (I forget the exact order, it's been too long, just go whichever way makes sense)

Drop Trans
Remove all accessories on top of engine
remove intake
remove front accessories
remove wiring harness from pcm and firewall, or unhooko completely from engine (I went the 2nd way)
Remove Fans & radiator

Get a chain going from the back to the front, and hook the engine towards the front. I lifted the engine up, slid it forward, then spun it 90* sideways to lift it out if I remember right. Do a search on me from a while back on a spun bearing...should be a lot more info there.

Here's my directory of pics if they might help:

If it's any consolation, I did it entirely myself as well...shoebox can vouch for me, he was watching on webcam
