Troubleing Trouble code
Troubleing Trouble code
well, I recently got my car running, kinda, it runs for like 10-20 sec fine then dies suddenly. My scantool(laptop) gives code 46 cant enable fuel. I have researched and found all the online code tables I can, with none listing this code at all, in fact most obdI code tables I have found read code 44, code 45, code 47, no code 46 at all. This LT1 is out of a 95z28, but in an 89rs. this is the only code that comes up. Where should I start? Any responses or usefull info would be appreciated.
Re: Troubleing Trouble code
A DTC46 is a failure for the pass key circuit. It's probably bacause you are not using the correct ignition switch to use the correct key that the theft deterrent module was first started with. Or the contacts of the ign switch are not connected to the theft deterrent module. Or maybe you don't even have the theft deterrent module when you did the transplant. The theft deterrent module is required to put out the fuel enable signal to the PCM.
The best way to deal with the problem is bypass the function all together. You need to place a resistor on the input lines of the TDM on pins B8 and B7. But you will either need to know the value of the original key pellet or have to try all 15 values one at a time.
We all have the values if you need them.
Good luck
