trans wont shift at redline and i dont know why!!
my 93 Formula wont shift at redline. it shifts at about 5200 rpm into second and into third. it shifts inot 4th at about 4300 RPM. all at WOT. i had my T.V. cable checked twice and they said it was in the proper postion. dose anyone have any idea why its doing this? the trans dosent need to be rebuilt it only has 48k miles on it and has been drivein by a 65 year old lady since 1993 and has never been put to the floor until i got in it it barks the tires into second gear and shifts fine. would line pressure have anything to do with it? i just cant think of whats causing the problem. i know this should be in the drivetrain forum , i already posted in there and it didnt get much action. help please. also when the motor is cold after sitting over night it once i take it for a blast out of the N-hood it'll shift at like 5500.
personally id prefer if mine shifted earlier, it holds too long... i think 5400 - 5500 is a good shifting rpm for this engine. but perhaps there is something wrong with ur trans, make sure u flush ur trans fluid might perserve it if its still ok.

AFAIK, the TV cable only controls your part throttle shifts. Sounds like there's something physically wrong with the tranny.

thanks ion.
what i dont understand is, if something was physically wrong with the trans then wouldnt it be slipping and basically feel like crap? it shifts fine. breaks sideways sometimes into second gear. also another thing i noticed at WOT when it shifts into third gear it makes a slight screeching noise. does this also when i do a burnout and then let off.
but my problem is that it wont go to redline, although it has done that before, from like a roll at 25mph i stomped on it and it would downshift and just bounce off the limiter until i let off, only did it twice. hasnt done it since.
well i took my car out tonight and i did a few Rev's in neutral and it seems like it struggling in the top end. my friend was in the car that has a 94 Z28 and he said yeah that dosent feel right, its not smooth, it feels like its really trying to force the exhaust gas out. So i think my cat is clogged. My car gets inspected next month, so if it passes im going to gut it. what my question now is... I plan on getting Loudmouth with in the next week. if i have a gutted cat will it affect the sound of the car at all? will it make it pop or shudder anymore more then a loudmouth system with a cat?
