Total cost for your 383 stroker?

What should i expect my grand total to be to rebuild my lt1 block into a 383 stroker?

Too many variables to give a meaningful answer. A high quality shortblock will be in the $6,000 range and a "basic" motor could be built for maybe half of that though, if that's any help. Keep in mind, that's just referring to the shortblock. You still need heads, a valvetrain, and a supporting cast (mods to the drivetrain, suspension, brakes, fuel system, programming, etc.) depending what you have in mind

WOW

I was hoping i could get all the work done to my stock block, get the stroker kit for 2,XXX, hot cam kit, and my stock heads ported. Will that work?

If your gonna go with the stroker kit, I wouldn't go with such a weak cam...Id end up goin' with a custom ground cam, or anything bigger than the Hotcam...heh

I've got over $6k in mine...It just depends on who does your work, and where ya get your parts..

Starting from scatrch, a complete long block can run you from $4-6K on average. Thats machine work, internals, heads, valve train and assembly. Its not cheap at all, most people do h/c then do a short block a little down the road.

Looks like the average is about $6-7k. Sounds worth it to me. Much cheaper than a new car, and a heck of a lot more impressive when complete.

If my LT1 ever blows up, I'll probably be looking at a 383 as a replacement. I hope that's a long ways off though. I have a lot more mods to do...
