top-end problems
i'm having issues with my top end power...
the car hauls As$ up until it gets to highway speeds...
when on the highway, i mash the pedal, and it goes to third, but it's not going as fast as i want...
the cam goes to 6500rpm....
although the car goes, it's top end acceleration isnt remotely close to it's low end. i'm aware that it wont accelerate as fast as it would at low speeds, but this doesnt make sense...
i was thinking the injectors might be getting tired, but they're based on rpm, and on the bottom end, the rpm flies to 6500 and it still hauls...so, that doesnt add up.
i'm looking for a free scanning program so i can look at the tables...any suggestions?
any thoughts?

Well, it's always best to look at both fuel and ignition. Start with the basics. New fuel filter? What's the fuel pressure like at WOT? Any indications of bad plugs/wires? Also, there have been plenty of people with your exact problem only to find out in the end that they lashed the rockers too tight
If you have the hardware the best software for scanning is http://www.ttspowersystems.com/dm_dload.htm
It calculates injector duty cycle on the fly. It gives you a few free trial runs, although if you plan to mod the car a lot it's a good investment to buy it
It does require a PC and cable of course.

The best way to tell if they are too tight is to relash them and see if it helped
What did you originally lash them at? For stock lifters I use 1/2 turn past zero, for Compcams 'R' lifters I only go about ~1/8 turn. This problem is not totally uncommon and if you can't seem to find anything else wrong I'd go back and relash.
well, i havent exactly been doing the tightening. the guy who built my motor has been adjusting them...the motor has 1000 miles on it...he's supposed to adjust then again, and he says that's the last time they'll need to be adjusted. he's been waiting for me to break the car in so that everything's place and he'll go back in and adjust them.
