timing set off by a tooth?

how bad would it run? i just stepped up from the 306 to a custom cam and its getting some strange knock retard...
i'm pretty sure its correct.

i would think you would have some piston to valve clearence problems if it was off.

Depending on which direction it was off, some indications might be- idling somewhat ok, but has no power and falls on it's face under a load. Proper idle can be hard to judge with a bigger cam.

well it seems to idle better then the 306 did, and i havent really tuned it much.

i guess theirs no way to figure out if its correct without having to actually look at the timing set?
