timing gears
What has gears that are turned by the timing chain besides cam and crank? There was a post regarding using stock water pump gears for a certain timing set. I thought only the cam and crank were connected by the timing chain, covered, with pulleys on the outside. The serpentine belt connected to these pulleys and to pulleys for your water pump, ac, alternator, etc...Some explanation please. LT1 specific to be more specific. Thanks!
the chain still only goes around the crank gear and cam sprocket,, but there is a gear around the back side of the cam gear that runs a shaft above the cam gear,,, this shaft is supported by a bearing in the block and runs through the timing cover to spin the water pump
