Tightening polylocks

I have polylocks w/ my GMPP 1.6 rr's. I know they have that wierd alleng wrench thing in the center of the nut. So do I go around and get all my rockers tightened down correctly then go back and tighten the poly lock allen bolt down tight? How tight do I make it?

Re: Tightening polylocks

Snug to firmly tighten them after adjusting lash. Nothing excessive.

Re: Tightening polylocks

How much more do I turn the nut once I start to feel resistance on the pushrod?

Re: Tightening polylocks

I was actually on that exact page, and printed it out before you posted. But I dont understand what it means...I have GMMP 1.6 RR's so I dont know if they follow the same as the comp cams do.

Does 1/4 turn perload sound good for medium-quite operation?

I dont understand any of this..sorry
Comp actually recommends .002-.004 preload on a warm engine.
For reference:
3/8" stud: ½ flat = .003472"
7/16" stud: ½ flat = .00416"
Rotating the nut 1/6 of a turn (until the next flat side is in the same position as the previous flat side) is a "flat".

Ohh and shoebox if you have time..checkout this thread since no one else seems to be helping:

Thanks a lot.

Re: Tightening polylocks

Those recommendations are for Comp R lifters if you read all the text. There are also recommendations in there for stock lifters.
