Wish I'd known that before I did it.

Thanks for your opinion. Think I'll keep the NHRA National Record certificate just the same.

That can be a precarious perch. Hope it's not barbed wire!

Re: Throttle Body Spacer?????

Why did Hogan end up building the intake so short? Were you originally going to run a different TB or fuel setup?

Actually, I never knew the "why." The rest of the workmanship was beautiful and it fit like a glove. I suspect that, since there were very few of the LT1 combinations running when I bought the manifold ten years ago, they built it for an aftermarket throttle body linkage. My plans never changed but I may not have been specific enough when I described my intent. I sent the heads to Hogan but not the throttle body. Our rules require a stock, unaltered throttle body so an aftermarket unit was not an option.

I received some very helpful suggestions from John Rademacher, the owner of Product Engineering, the manufacturer of the pump and holder of a number of patents (for example, #6328538) on racing fuel system components. He immediately suggested that the plenum volume be increased so we went in that direction instead of trying to revise the throttle linkage. The fuel is fed through a #10 line from the fuel cell to a "Y" splitter at the front of the manifold. Two short #8 lines feed fuel to the fuel rails from the front. The 2 #6 return lines are under the plenum and meet in the fuel regulator just below the throttle body. The system caused no problems and, while visually complicated, seems to function very well. The car eventually ran as fast as 138 mph so, apparently, there was not a shortage of either fuel or air down track.
