install guide
Re: install guide
I can make the transmission swap in a quick paragraph for ya...
- drain tranny fluid (makes for a clean removal)
- Remove the DS and TA cross member 4 bolts
- Remove the dust cover that conseals the flywheel
- Remove 4 bolts from the rear driveshaft yoke
- Slide DS out of transmission
- Remove torque arm 2 bolts in the rear end
- Spray lubricant into rubber torque arm mount and slide TA out.
(jack the body up from the driver rear near end for easy removal of the Torque Arm)
-Unbolt the starter (2 bolts) and just move it away from the flywheel
-Remove 2 bolts on the driverside transmission pan holding the shift linkage in place.
-remove shift linkage from shift arm (pops off with a little pull)
-With a 3ft ext and a uni swivel begin to unbolt 4 of the 6 bolts connecting the transmission and motor. The #2 bolt on the passenger side holds the tranny dipstick in place.(we will remove this soon)
**leave the bottom 2 bolts (break them loose but dont remove yet.)
-Slide a jack (with a platform, trans jack, or a 3ton with a nice piece of wood to keep the trans balanced and apply little pressure to the tranny pan (rest the trans on it evenly)
-unbolt the 4 bolts to the transmission crossmember.
-Unplug the VSS (driverside rear tailshaft)
-Remove last two bolts on the bell housing
-Remove tranny dip stick, may be easier with the next step.
**Lower the transmission 4-6 inches**
- Unplug Harness pigtale (mid transmission grey circular connector pointing toward the ground on the passenger side.
- remove cooling lines (2 of them 1 send 1 return on the passenger side
-remove 4l60e from under the car...(trans crossmmber and transmount will still be attached.)
install is reverse directions...
Hope this helps, I think i covered everything...
hope someone else has input on the opti... my fingers are tired. I will post if you don't get a friendly and eager response... lol.
