Those who have done an access door (come on in)
Alright my fuel pump on my TA is starting to die so i was planning on doing the access door method of replacing it but i have a few questions. About what size does the hole need to be cuase i was planning on just buying a aftermarket access door to cover the whole with. So far the best one i have found is one by morso and the door is 6x6(http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...52&prmenbr=361). I was wondering if that would allow me enough room to get it out. If not do you know of any other companies that woudl make one big enough to work.
Thanks a lot for your help.

It needs to be bigger. That door is good for things that you need acess to every week. But why spend that money when all you need is some sheetmetal, RTV and screws. That's what everyone (incl me) does. There are some good guides on here. Do a search, this comes up about 3 times a month.

Here's the link I used to do it. I agree, just get some sheetmetal and some short screws and save yourself the money, you will never see it anyways, it is under the carpet. I used a dremel and LOTS of cutting bits to keep the spark to minimum.

12x8 is the exact dimensions of my hole...or at least close to it .....but it would be wortheles to get that door b/c u have to cut a little more up top and to teh left to acces teh disconnect lines.....RTV sheet metal and short screws worked for me ....hvae fun....this is the easiest way to do the pump.....also i used a drill to drill a hole and then some sheet meta cutters to cut the openening....its not as clean as cutting it with a cutoff tool but its better than getting all those sparks
