Heads for a 396ci? Help me decide!
Hey,
I have a 396ci motor. Right now it has stock head on it and it runs pretty good. But, it is time to order me a good set of heads. I am thinking AFR's. My car has this following set up: Six speed, spec Stg III clutch, 3.73 gears, 396 (Callies stroker kit from cmotorsports.com), My cam is pretty big too (233/239 duration,566/577 lift, 111lsa) And I am also converting it to the LTCC Ignition kit when I install these heads. I have everything that I need, except for the heads, and I don't know what heads to run. I see that Trickflow has some new heads out for an LT1, are they or AFRs better?
Thanks

AFR 227 are suppose to flow 305+.That is capable of supporting 627FWHP with their comp port job,and you will need an intake and CIA system to support the heads.A 396 takes a lot of air to make HP above 5500RPM's.These are your best bet without going 15-18* and a ton of money. They do not need offset valve train like most people say.You can run stud's and RR's as normal.
