Re: Those With LT4 Hot Cam Kit....

For a high mileage car, the hot cam kit would be a great mod if you're looking for a nice power increase but don't want to rev too high. While you have the motor apart, get some Pacesetter LT's and a good catbak to compliment the cam. I'm serious about that one. Headers make a huge difference on a stock car, but with a cam, the difference is even more. Save up the extra few hundred for headers and do it all at once. You'll be in for a pleasant surprise.

Re: Those With LT4 Hot Cam Kit....

I don't have any 1/4 mile times, but with the addition of the Hotcam kit, shorty headers, and a PCMFORLESS tune, I went from a 9.1@80 to the times in sig. I drive this car about 25,000 miles a year, and the cam peforms flwlessly in all conditions, from WOT blasts to bumper to bumper traffic. The midrange is awesome, and I can spin the motor to 6,400 if I want to. Definately a great all-around cam. I am expecting to run a very low 13 or high 12 in the 1/4 with good weather(Time in sig. was on a 70 degree day with very high humidity).

Either. Good heads can be CNC or hand ported stock heads or special aftermarket heads. Just heads that perform pretty good. On my car I have CNC'd stock heads. The CNC job ran $1800 plus cores so it wasn't cheap but the results were pretty good. I had another set of heads that were hand ported stock heads and the car ran 120mph n/a but I sold those. So, what I mean by "good heads" is just good performing heads

I have stock injectors and while I don't run lean, I'm fairly sure I'm pretty much maxing them out

Thanks for the info Brent!

It is very impressive that your car got put out that much horse power with the LT4 Hotcam. Now, I have to figure which cam I am going to install. I am leaning towards the Hotcam because it delivers a bit more at mid-range RPMs when compared to more aggressive camshafts. My Z-28 is quite light in weight therefore, I believe the Hotcam will do it just fine.

I like my hot cam kit,I got it new for $400 from the dealer.it may not be the biggst or the best cam...but it works well for me. its a mild cam for my setup, but with ported heads ,9.5cr and a blower @ 12psi the car drives great...feels like stock till you build boost...then its hold on to you nipples
