Those With LT4 Hot Cam Kit....

I am wondering how much you reduced you e.t. and increased your m.p.h. in the 1/4 mile after installing the LT4 Hot Cam Kit compared to your car when it was mostly stock?

Re: Those With LT4 Hot Cam Kit....

some have seen high 12's with GOOD tuning on the LT4 hotcam kit with an otherwise stock LT1.

Re: Those With LT4 Hot Cam Kit....

I ran a 13.1 before the hotcam, this is all on street tires. I ran the 12.75 in 1500ish DA. I never had a chance to run in good weather, I'd expect a 12.6 or 12.5 out of my car.

Re: Those With LT4 Hot Cam Kit....

a 12 second car with only the Hot Cam Kit? Dude I am sold. Wait how much is that thing again? I am in the process of ordering parts to get rid of an oil leak that seems to be somewhere around the timing chain cover. In goes a new water pump gaskets opty...(mine has over 145k miles on it) etc etc I was thinking of doing Valve Stem seals, Scorpions RRs and Valve springs while at it.

My car guts are stock now... any idea how much power could I possibly gain if the car runs good after the swap? pros? cons?

I have reading about the new 2005 mustang and it aint a 12 second car... this kits sound awesome.

any info will be apreciated.

lt4 conversion kit is sold in Summit and such.. also if you're gonna be putting that kinda money into your car, research things.. headers are a good power mod too and cost much less. also if you're doing a cam swap, many people on here with knowledge on the subject will tell you you should get something other than the hot-cam.

Thumbs up Re: Those With LT4 Hot Cam Kit....

Hot Cam and LT's I ran 12.80's on street tires on stock heads at around 106. Then with a Vig3200 I ran 12.30's @110 mph stock heads.... Great mild cam IMO...

Yes, you are correct but, it also includes valve springs too. You definetly need to replace the springs to eliminate coil bind because of the increased lift.

My research has also found I should also install a heavy duty timing gear/chain set aswell.

For the $ you cannot beat this kit.

I ran a 13.8 stock 1/4 mile before mods. Although I added more than just a hot cam the difference is unbelievable. I haven't ran at the track since my new mods (see sig.) but I have beaten an '02 trans am m6 that ran 13.1's by 3 or 4 cl's.

You can get the Hotcam Kit for $489 from http://www.samtaylor.com/html/parts.html new, I dunno about Summit or Jegs though.

If I were to buy this kit, I'd replace the Hotcam with the CC305 cam.

Re: Those With LT4 Hot Cam Kit....

With good heads you can get up around 400 rwhp. My 96SS dyno'd 399 rwhp with the HOT cam. Most times dynos were in the mid 380's but when the bugs got worked out it hit 399 rwhp. Car ran 12.4 at 115mph at more than 3800 lbs so not too bad. Also, what is even more impressive to me is that this was back in the 97/98 time frame. Car now has 110k miles on it, still gets around 20 mpg with mixed driving, and still runs like a raped ape. Of course, I've done some extras to it like long tubes and 4" exhaust so I have no idea what it'll run or dyno at now

I am wondering what you mean by "good heads"? Aftermarket or CNCed stock?

I am also curious about the fuel injector duty cycle time after tuning. I have heard the stock injectors get maxed out fairly quick. Is this true?

Re: Those With LT4 Hot Cam Kit....

it would be a good idea to step the injectors up to 28-30#ers after you get your heads ported. I wouldnt think youd have to go any larger than 30#ers with a hotcam/ported heads though...
