Think I found my problem

Been having idle issue. Just pulled off TB to examine IAC. Everything was clean, however I took the IAC and plugged it in while holding it in my hand. Had the wife turn key to on position, could feel the IAC motor running, but the spindle just barely moved. It might have moved a 1/16 of an inch if that. Tried this three times with the same result. What do ya think .......Bad IAC?

Re: Think I found my problem

it would be hard to know what movement equates to a "step" or "count" (perhaps there is a reference somewhere that says?). I would not consider that conclusive evidence, unless you compared it to a known good IAC. Plus, you would have to be watching what value was commanded by the computer to even know how much it was told to move.

The IAC barely as any movement, even on a new one...Did you check your air inlet elbow for rips,tares,holes???..Now that you have removed the TB,I would install a new gasket..Did you check all your vacuum lines for cracks, rips, tares??
