Is there adjustment that can be made in the rack?

I found a procedure to adjust steering rack bearing preload. Is this an adjustment to adjust play in the rack? I have 1/2" of play in my rack. I verified this after installing a rag joint eliminator and checking tie rod ends and such. The play is coming from the rack.
It's not bad, just not perfect.

You can order an aluminum spacer from www.unbalancedengineering.com for $30 and it gives you directions on how to do it. Fairly simple, you'll need a vice and hand grinder. You take that joint arm off, one bolt on top and one on the bottom by the rack. Takes an hour.
