th400 transmission swap

Hey I'm wanting to swap either a 350 of 400 transmission into my upcomming 396 stroker. I was wondering if $800 is a good price for a race-prepped th400. I called a local shop and told him I wanted something to handle 750 hp (396 + nitrous or Blower) and he said $800 for a 400 and $1000 for a 350 w/400 drumbs. Both of these would be with reverse manual VB. The reason the 350 is more expensive is because of the billet 400 drumbs, but I wouldn't have to spend as much to get it to work. B/C with the 400 I need a drive shaft with the bigger yolk and some other stuff that I can't remember. Just wondering if this is a good deal for either tranny and which one you think is better. And if I forgot anything please let me know.

Also...How much is a T56 worth. I have one and I might have to get rid of it to finish my project and I was wondering what to expect if I sold it.

Doesn't sound like a bad price. I went ahead and just got the TH400. You'll need the TH400 with a 4" tailshaft, a longer drive shaft (spohn.net has one for $325 designed for the TH400 swap), and also you'll need a torque arm that doesn't mount to the tranny... sphon has those too. I put an a new electronic speed sensor and ring in mine for the speedo to work but, I'm not sure how the 93 set-up is. It might be cable driven. You could probably sell your entire M6 setup and about break even. Good Luck

Just remember to add the cost of things that don't come with the TH400, and you don't have with your T56:

-flex plate
-convertor
-cooler
-dipstick
-valve body
-pan
-modify M6 cross-member
-shifter
-longer DS

If you want to run low ET's... you will need an UltraBell and an SFI case shield.

I sold my T56/Street Twin/etc. setup for over $2K.

The same guy who is putting together the tranny said he can get me a coan nitrous converter for $630 or one that can be used without nitrous fo $427, a flexplate for $60, and a tranny cooler for $80. The transmission comes with the deep pan and reverse manual VB. I havent deided what to do about the rest...I'm still looking.

What all comes in the T56 to TH400 swap kit from ls1 speed.

Also...How much does the sphon torque arm cost. Is there any way to get around having to spend the money on that...like someway to modify the stock one.

Also is there anyone looking to buy a T56 with 70,000mi on it. Ive never sold anything online before so if someone is in need please help me out.
