Question Temperature Gauge has flat lined....

I noticed today my temp gauge has flat lined. It doesn't move when i start up my car, or turn on the battery. What is the procedure to find out whats wrong, and get it back working?

First, check the drivers side head and see its its plugged in and clean...
... I was working on my car and accidentally broke it once.
It did the same exact thing.

Re: Temperature Gauge has flat lined....

Remove the connector from the sensor in the head and ground it. That should peg your gauge and prove that the wiring is ok.

Unhappy Re: Temperature Gauge has flat lined....

My sensor was pulled out. Looks like the gray piece on the head, that the sensor clips into, broke off. So, now i have two of those metal pieces sticking out. I plugged in the sensor and Gorrilla Glued it, but i know the heat will rip it apart. Any ideas?

My pastic is ripped off the sensor also. I bent the pins out a little bit and put the plug over it. Been that way for thousandsof miles. (Bent the pins so it fits snug)

I wouldn't even mess with a broken temp sensor when you
can buy new ones for $15 at O'reilly Auto Parts. About a
2 minute job replacing it.

My thoughts exactly. I just replaced mine the other night, $11.98 at AutoZone and took about 5 minutes.

Question Re: Temperature Gauge has flat lined....

Hmm, well, when the gorrilla glue gives out, i will look at autozone. They have the grayed piece that gets stuck to the head; that you snap into? How do you get it to stick there?
