The Sportsman rockers are decent for the money. I couldnt get them any cheaper and paid $795 for them. Bolt them on and check for pushrod lenght. just ordered new pushrods for mine yesterday. So far the only thing I do not like about them is that I am running head studs. The rocker stands are clearanced for the head bolts but they dont fit with the head studs.

The kit comes with a set of shims incase you are running +.100" valves. Even with those shims the stands dont fit with the studs. I had to remove the studs and use the supplied low profile head bolts from Jesel.

I ran the shims because I have the +100 valves. With the shims they clear my ARP head bolts. I did have the same probem you have with head studs though. I wish there was a solution to that. Are you runnin studs in the rest of the motor and bolts under the rocker stands?

yeah I just pulled out those 8 studs and used the bolts from Jesel. The bolts they give you are good bolts... probably from a supplier like ARP. Without the +.100 shim there is no way a regular bolt would fit, you would have to use their bolts. With the shims I actually had enough room to clear the nut on the stud, but the stud itself was still way too high. I would imagine that if you had the stud machined down you could still use them. It would be close though and you would loose the hex in the center to remove them. I didnt want to ruin them to try it. I didnt know how that would affect the stud itself so I just figured i would use the supplied bolts from Jesel. Oh, and yeah still using studs for all the rest.

Do you have any pics of the valve cover? I tried the Summit fabricated covers with no success. i am going to try the Moroso fabbed cover or the Proform cast covers next. Trying to decide if I am willing to shell out the $350+ for the Moroso's

those are the ones I ended up with. A buddy of mine had them and was no longer going to use them. not my first choice but are working so far.

Thats the same problem I had with the studs and the rocker stands. I just went ahead and went back to all bolts since I was having problems with the springs hitting the stud bolt.

It would have been nice for Jesel to give you a shorter stud in the kit but if you dont run the shims they would not work anyway. Even with a shorter stud its close and by the looks of the stand I dont think there is much more material they can take out of the stand. Anything less and I bet they would compromise the integrity of the stands. Either way the rockers seem to be of decent quality for the price.

Those covers look similar in desgin to the Proforms. I think I am going to try a set of them first. They look good and should fit. I am told they fit ok, but might need some grinding on the back of the cover...
