T56 six speed speedometer question

Hi guys, just found this site, it pretty kewl! anyways, i have a 69 camaro that i put a 94 t56 sixspeed in, and recently purchased an electronic speedometer. i need the connection on the tranny that hooks the speedo to the tranny. what is it called? where can i get one? which of the female connectors do i use once i get one? thanks in advance guys!

The vehicle speed sensor (VSS) is located on the tailshft of the tranny - its the black connector in the center of this picture .

You will need to insure that the pulse signal your speedo requires is the same 17-pulse per revolution that the T56 puts out. If you have compatibility problems, there are interface boxes and alternative sensors available from Dakota Digital

Fred, I was messing with tunercat tonight and it looks like it has a way to adjust speedo calibration for a different sensor. Couldn't you modify it through that instead of using the Dakota box?

If he was using an LT1 PCM, he could alter the program. But as I understand it, he just has a T56 in an older model, without the LT1 engine, so he doesn't have a PCM to program. He just wants to connect the T56 VSS to some unknown brand elctronic speedo...

Did I make some incorrect assumptions?

nope, your pretty much totally right. i have an auto meter speedo that claims its "adjustable"
