Doubtfull that you can do that.

You usually have to clearance the block so the rod bolts don't hit the oil pan rail.

dont forget that with a longer stroke you need lower compression height pistons or else the piston is going through the head! Also you would save a lot of time by just taking the motor out, try removing the oil pan while in the car and that will give you an idea of how hard it would be to change out a crank, which i doubt is possible anyway.

the oil pan wasnt that hard to get out of his car. but i see you can do it if you dont have any clearance issues. but i just sont know if we could get it back in with out damaging the crank.

once you get the motor up the oil pan will come right out. oh and the y pipe.

goblin check your mail

i already have the pan off, wasnt to bad. looks like the crank could manuver out. i just had to unbolt the mounts and jack up the engine.

i was concerned about the clearance issues with the block
i just put this motor in last winter, it sucks pulling it out again.

thanks, if anyone else has a magic potion that keeps the engine in the car id like to see it.

also, would it be worth it to stroke a stock bored engine, not a big fan or bored motors.

Bore doesnt mean anything compared to stroke. You would see very very few hp from a .10 or .20 or .30 bore compared to the gains you would see with a stroke increase, only problem is if it needs a bore, go as small as possible though so you can go bigger in future.

On the other hand, stroke increase on otherwise stock engine would mean almost nothing, without better heads or cam you wont see much hp, decent increase in torque though, not much to be worth it though

i have the xe 230 236 in it now. heads need more work. ran out of money last year and needed the car so didnt do the full job on the heads. spent everything i the lower end.

as far as the cylinders you can still see the cross hash from the factory hone, didnt see any grooves or scares. and the car didnt smoke. so i didnt plan to bore.

thanks for you input.

One and only reason to pull it there. If you toasted the crank after spinnig a bearing, you'll need to disassemble the engine and get it tanked to remove any bearing residue thats in the oil passages. You will need to get the mains line bored and checked. You will also need a new oil pump along with all new bearings.

Anything less and your gonna be pulling it right back out. Not to mention how unsanitary it would be to drop out and install a crank while the engine is in the car. Save yourself the headache.

Not to mention how your gonna put a stroker crank in an engine without stroker rods nor pistons. You can't just change the crank, your looking at an entire rebuild.

No you can not just change the crank. You need to have the block clearanced for the stroker crank, you need need connecting rods to do a stroker, not to mention all of the bearings and stuff. And if the crank is shot you NEED to pull the motor and have it rebuilt. The crank needs to be balanced.....blah blah blah.
