Suggestion on plugs and wires

I'm rebuilding my friend's ignition on his '97 SLP LT4 Camaro SS, and I was wondering what plugs and wires I should go for? This car is pretty mean and pretty fast, so I want to put something halfway good in it. I'll be replacing the opti, so while I'm in there I want to just gut everything. Suggestions?

If it has header,I would use Taylors over ther valve cover.I like Delco Rapid fire plugs.

after 3- Z28s and lots of mods over the years. I personally have had great performance out of AC Delco plugs( R43TS or Rapid fire) and Taylor wires.

I use stock wires. Cheap, and good quality/fitment. As far as plugs for a stock motor, the OEM seems to work fine there as well. I can't see spending money on a "mod" that's no better than the OEM part. And if you saw my car, you would realize that I am not averse to spending the long buck if I think there is some benefit to it. But why waste it?

Taylor 8mm customs just BARELY fit in the stock looms and they were like $50 at ThunderRacing.com (highly recommended). If you go any bigger than 8mm, you'll need new looms too.

IMO, $50 is easily justifiable for "better than stock" wires... (considering OE replacements cost you about that anyway!) if you don't think they're any better, invest in a digital multimeter and measure the resistance between a new stock wire and the taylor 8mm (which is NOT by any means their "best" wire)...

For plugs, everybody recommends the NGK TR55s, so that's all I've ever run. I can't compare to others, but they have served me very well.

id put in some bosch plats or something that will last.. the TR55s that everyone raves about burn up pretty quick since they are copper.

as for wires id go with stock. if he has headers then route them over the valve cover with aftermarket wires like Taylors(not my personal pick) or maybe some MSDs.. it looks good, clean and its easier then stock location routing.

btw. who in their right mind drives 1 of 100(give or take) LT4 SS often enough that it needs a completely new ignition??

Look at the picture in my profile, you'll see this thing is in BAD shape. It's on page 3 of my pictures. He's working on basically a full restification now, so this thing'll be tip top in a few months.

Yeah, this thing is an LT4 SLP SS, 1 out of 30 actually since it has t-tops. I'd rather spend a few extra bucks getting the good wires and plugs into it, especially since putting plugs in this motor is going to be complete hell. Also, this thing has LT4 heads, so there's no reason to screw around with LT1 stock stuff. The stock looms should already avoid the headers, considering the car came stock with headers, so I'll probably just go with the Taylor 8MM wires since pretty much everybody agrees on those. I'm a big fan of Delco plugs, but I personally run an old car and have different views on performance. Stuff in these newer cars is weird, so what's the benefit of the NKG plugs?

im running bosch plats. not a +2 or a +4 just the regular plat with taylor 8mm. i got the car at 75k and replaced them immediately. there was a noticeable difference. not a faster horsepower kind of thing just a run better more effecient kind of thing. i cant credit that all to the plugs or wires being what they are. the car had the original stuff in it and needed a tune up anyway. i read alot about the platinum tips and the newer iriduim NGK's. the tip on the bosch is almost the same size conductor as the NGK. the platinum tip works great for me. the bosch was 2.00 a plug where as the NGK was like 11.00. unless you are going for the last .01 in your quarter i cant see the cost justification. i am also firing it with a crane hi-6 and an lx-92 coil.
