Street Twin adjustable master cylinder

How do I go about adjusting the master cylinder from McLeod for the Street Twin? I had it installed at Detroit Speedworks and everything worked great for a couple months, but now it grinds when I try to put it in any gear. I am hoping that the clutch needs to be readjusted instead of the tranny needing to be rebuilt.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Thanks.

You need to remove the knee bolster panel first. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry off the retainer clip on the spherical joint of the pedal/master cylinder. Just screw/unscrew the joint to lower/raise the engagement (respectively).

So the adjustment is just for the engagement point during pedal travel? Let's just say my clutch isn't fully disengaging, would adjusting the master cylinder fix this?

There is no adjustment on the Master Cylinder, Like 96-speed said you can lower or raise the pedal height. If that doesn't do it you might try bleeding the unit.

Changing the pedal height can affect engagement. The farther out the pedal rests, the more piston movement you will get with a full pedal depressment.

It's conceivable that the piston isn't compressing all the way with how it is setup right now, so that making the pedal higher might fix it.

Otherwise, it could be air in the system, which would require bleeding.

Okay Solomon,

I am trying to adjust the pedal height right now, but in case that doesn't work how do I go about bleeding the system?

Thanks.

Hey Chad,

There are a few threads in this forum with the details. Here is one.

I adjusted out the rod on the adjustable master cylinder and now the clutch seems to fully disengage. It is much easier to shift and goes into all gears without grinding. I just don't understand how all of a sudden it could have gotten out of adjustment.
