Stock 96 Z28 SS....where to start?
Thanks.
I was told by SLP it was the rarest of colors ordered. Don't know why. IMO it seems to flatter the curves of the car much better than the standard red/white/black/polo green...
Those pics were taken awhile ago. The paint is in need of some serious attention on the hood, quarter panels and deck lid. Clear coat is coming off.

I beleive there is something to the dents on the quarter panel; my 97 SS has them, in spite of subframe connectors, and my previous 95Z (no sfcs) had them, too.
Personally, I would do anything that can be changed back later...while I don't think many 4th gens will be that valuable, I would think the 96-97 SS models would be near the top in the future. The power level is similar to the later LS1 models, and not only are they more rare, most people agree they are better looking.

i think if your chasis sees any kind of flexing (hard launching or shifting) youre going to get the quarter panel dimples eventually regardless of SFCs... SFCs just slow it down significantly. My quarter panels are perfect right now and I have a car that chirps 4th gear
That being said, I have noticed that it does look like my quarter panels are "trying" to lose their perfection. No waves or dimples yet... but i could almost predict where they might start appearing.
And i agree with the above post 96-97 SSs will probably be worth something in the future. I think even my Z28 will be just because its in near perfect condition and fully documented... you dont see many nice LT1s these days.
I have no fear of modding my car for the most part, but im very **** about keeping stock parts and doing mods that are reversable. Esp hanging onto the #s matching components if i decide to mod the driveline.

I've got a dimple on each side of the top of my rear quarters... nothing too big, nothing really noticeable.
I've probably got 300-350 track passes on my car, no SFC's.
SS RRR, is that a teal SS? Didn't think those were legit.. learn something new everyday.

SS RRR's car looks to be quasar blue. I might be wrong though.
My car has no SFCs, many scores of track passes, 107k miles, and many many hours of donuts, autocross, and other general horsing the car and it's driveline around in a violent manner at just about all speeds. No dimples yet

It's not a problem with the chassis flexing, its a problem with the ****ty shocks that gm put on our cars that don't dampen properly. Fix the the problem at the cause of it, don't put a bandade on it.
call me clueless but what do shocks have to do with quarters dimpling?
Because when the shocks don't dapen properly all the shock from hitting bumps ect. goes through the chassis instead of being absorbed by the shocks. My car with koni's, strano springs, strano swaybars, and a umi rod ended panhard bar not only handles 100x better, but it alsorides ALOT better than my car did with the stock suspension, and ALOT better than my dad's 2000 WS6 with stock suspension.
Interesting theory however the 3rd gen Camaros suspention parts are in the same locations yet I never had problems with my '85 nor have I read about dimpling problems from other 3rd gen owners.
I'm wondering because of the way the panels are designed they are just too frail to handle even the slightest flex. However the question remains is the dimpling really caused by chassis flex or is this another one of those hooky tales generated like whoever it was that seemed to be "in the know" regarding f-bodys and stating on some LT1's the front of the engine was not balanced properly therefore GM's answer was to balance the dampner to compensate and the proof was in the holes found on the damner.
