Starting Troubles

Well...a couple of days ago the fiance was driving the 94z back from work and stopped to get the mail. After stopping, the car would not start again. It would turn over for a moment, then act as though it was misfiring and die. If the car was left for a full day, it would start right back up, with absolutely NO indication of anything being wrong, but after it was stopped again for 10-15 minutes, it would no longer start again. The check engine light is NOT on and the car was scanned and has no codes thrown. I removed the throttle body and cleaned it up, and now it seems to not want to start at all. Again, it will turn over for a VERY short period of time, then bog down and die. I also notice that the few times the car has started up and ran smoothly, the oil pressure leveled off at a higher pressure than normal.

ANY input on what this may be is much appreciated

Re: Starting Troubles

He is refering to the Optical Sensor inside the Opti.. Its sounds like your problem.. I'd pick up a new one from Jason Cromer..

Re: Starting Troubles

Well thank you very much, any idea on the cost of a new sensor. Also, the opti was recently replaced, would the sensor have been replaced at that time, or is it a seperate entity from the opti?

It all depends on how it was replace. It it was a rebuilt kit then it would be the the componets inside swap out. If it was the opti itself then the whole unit would been replace. Just to give you a head up many people have replace there opti and within months they have gone bad again. It's the luck of the draw when dealing with electrical parts.
