Personally, I don't like how Borla sounds. No offense or anything, I just think there are a lot of other setups out there that sound a LOT better.

like mine. j/k.

I've heard borlas with headers and offroad pipes, and yeah.. the "oomph" just isn't there. Its just all rasp and loud, but no real v8 tone.... it is pretty damn loud though.

Borla

If you want your car to sound good all you have to do is gut the converter. I have the borla and when I had the stock manifolds and gutted converter on it sounded as good as anything I have ever heard, but when i put the borla hi flow y pipe with and offroad pipe it became too loud to run with any plate except for the one that blocks off the right pipe altogether. I now have SLP headers with the offroad pipe and it sounds alot better than it did with the hi flow y pipe. But it sounded the meanest with just the stock y pipe with the converter gutted and wide open plate, try it and i think you'll like it and save a whole lot of money over replacing it.

don't bother getting a cutout, thats pretty much what you have now with no plate in the Borla...you'll be wasting your money. Experiment with different configurations as people have mentioned here..I personally am not too fond of Borla, but one of the best sounding LT1 clips I have heard was some guy backing up his T/A with a Borla on it...I think he had heads/cam but it sounded totally bad ***...

Plus if your Borla is in good condition you can sell it for $300 or so and get your GMMG for only $400. Thats what I did. I say go for the GMMG you won't regret it

Damme you would make a great salesman! Well guys i think i made up my mind. Right now i have my lt headers and im going to wait on getting them installed, sell my borla, and save for my gmmg. Thank you for your opinions. when i think about it saving $400 isn't that bad. I should have gotten what i wanted in the first place

Install those headers and it'll completely change the sound of your Borla. A friend of mine did the same thing your doing, it totally changed the sound.

i hear the mufflex sounds pretty raunchy and its cheaper than the GMMG and Borla when new.. I'm just unsure of the difference between the spintech muff and the flowmaster as far as sound and performance....i've always loved the borlas and the way they looked on T/a's mostly.. buddy has a H/c T/a w/ LTs' and a borla..Sounds mean as all hell.. then their's the loudmouth which is a decent exhaust for the $$$ but doesn't have the bass until you throw a bullet in place of the resonator.. then its sounds nice..

I got Borla catback, ASM headers and high flow cat they perform great together. If you want sound, a do like the riceboys and install a Boom system not to offend anyone but I though exhaust mods were about hp

Werd...you are exactly right....my JetHot LTs and Borla together sound completely different than it did before, the car screams American Muscle, it's deeper, throatier and when I lay on the gas it is unreal. Now if I could just keep a decent set of plugs in the engine I'd be happy. NGKs are POS.

Personally, I like what I just purchased. My next door neighbor thought I had put in a big block they way it sounded to him!

I purchased the MAC Y-pipe for the stock manifolds, MAC Hi-Flow cat, and the complete MAC catback setup. The install went well and she sounds awesome. My neighbor said it sounds like a Cobra (not sure that is a good thing ) and he loves it. Very deep and powerful sounding. I am very happy with it!

I got it from LS1 speed for $750 total, shipped. Got it really fast from them too!

I completely agree....CANNOT stand Borla. But, then again...while I love the sound of my exhaust and it always garners many compliments...it's just too loud for me. There's just some of us that will never be satisfied, lol.
