Unhappy Starting not to like my borla catback

Hello everyone i've had my catback for a couple months now i loved it at first, but now its like a love hate thing. Some days i love the sound of it i haven't heard to many cars that sound like mine which is a plus. Then their days where my car just doesn't sound all that mean and that bothers me. I got a buddy with a flowmaster (don't know what series) catback and mac headers and it sounds so raw and mean. When i was on the hunt for my catback i didn't even think about buying a borla catback my first choice was gmmg, but their price and especially because the only take cash turned me away from them. Corsa seemed to quiet, loudmouth i heard sounded like crap with headers, and i couldn't hear any sound clips of b&b tri-flow so i passed on that too. Hooker was my next choice i was so close to buying it (a store close by had them in stock) but i was in the for sale section and a board member was selling a borla catback for $400 shipped and i went for it. I don't know, i hear so many cars (mostly mustangs) that sound so raw and mean that i want my car like that. I met a guy with a 2002 z06 today at work. He revved his engine for me and it sounded sooooo bad *** Things like that make me want to change what i have right now.

My point is get what you want the first time even if it takes longer to get. Look at me im thinking about getting a gmmg or true duals now when i was so happy 2 months ago.

$700 for a gmmg i really want to hear this catback in person i think i would start saving more if it sounds as good as everyone says it does.

I had to let this off my chest sorry!

See how you like the sound after you do the headers.

And I'm sure you could do a search for GMMG sound clips and find some. GMMG sounds AWESOME but that sound does come with a price.

Yeah your right i think i'll wait till the headers are installed. $700 is alot especially since i spent $400 for the borla plus installation. I've been searching for sound clips they help but i'd rather hear the gmmg in person.

I have no headers (yet)...but when my neighbors son (who owns a 69 502 ) came by, he was real impressed by the sound of my exhaust.

Have you removed the plate?

Peace! -mj

I have a borla and I picked up MAC Headers and Y-Pipe with Straight Pipe off ebay. I didn't realize it that the cat is welded to the exhaust so you're gonna need to purchase a cat as well. So for a few weeks I ran with the straight pipe..lemme tell you, you wanna talk raw, loud, and scary? There ya go right there..especially if you're used to driving a pretty mild-sounding car....

You could hear me coming from two blocks away @ 1200 RPM. lol

Personally, I dont like the way Borla sounds.........Thats JMHO though, some people love it. Everyone has differing opinions. I don't know if you have a cutout, but if you dont then throw one in....its $50 and see howyou like it.

Umm... What I want to do is to just get a QTEC cutout (or two... depends) and just run it open whenever I feel like being a jackass,... but when i need to be somewhat quiet, like... right as I'm getting pulled over for noise pollution, modified exhaust I'll just switch it back to the stock exhaust.

I'll be totally legal in every respect (except for the fact taht the exhaust system is in fact modified)...

and at the same time I'll always have the option of being loud as hell... like when i want to rattle apart my friend's civic...

I switched from Borla to GMMG. GMMG sounds better hands down. It has a much deeper and more refined sound to it compared to the Borla. Yeah its $700 but IMO it was well worth it. Plus if your Borla is in good condition you can sell it for $300 or so and get your GMMG for only $400. Thats what I did. I say go for the GMMG you won't regret it

Borlas do sound different than most over systems if you like than kind of sound.

I personally think it sounds good behind stock manifolds and cats, but that's it. I've heard it(wide-open) with headers and no cats, and it was a lot higher-pitched and very raspy. Same with the SLP LM. Not a good sound at all for a muscle car IMO...

If your looking for a deeper/throatier muscle car tone that is loud, get the GMMG or do a true dual set-up.
