starter and mac headers

I have had my macs on for about 2 years know and starter is giving me problems. After a 30 min drive or so the car will not restart till it sits a hour or so. I was thinking about a selonoid relocation but is that a good idea. I need some thoughts. The starter has a lifetime warranty at any gm dealer but thats only if they do the work and I still have to pay labor and May still end up with this problem again. I just would like all opinions.

Hey Jason, do you have any heat shielding protecting it? If not, I'd look into that as cheap insurance for after you replace it with a new one. PS - I answered your PM on PBFbody

Re: starter and mac headers

i would get a starter heat shield. I just have some of the aluminum sided fiberglass mat on my 69 Mach and the headers on that car are extremely close to the starter and i have no problems.

Re: starter and mac headers

I've got a CVR 8 way adjustable starter on mine. My starter is actually mounted UPSIDE DOWN! It clears the MACs this way, but still only has about a 1/4" gap between it and the y-pipe.
After 2 years, I've NEVER had a hot start problem. I can drive this thing for an hour, shut it off and restart it as many times as you'd like.
