Depressing bit of info from new CC on F-Body (Please Read!)
I just got my new issue of Car Craft (October 2002) in the mail today. They have an article on GM's 03 new car previews, pages 66 and 67.
I like most of you, visit this web site quite often and scan all the car mags looking for any news however small about the production of a 5th Gen F-Body.
This is the part of the article that got my attention..."Later that day, we asked Bill Lovejoy, group vice president of North American vehicle sales, services and marketing, if America will ever see another Camaro or Firebird.Lovejoy felt that the new GTO would serve as a litmus test and revealed that GM has no commitment to producing another F-Body.This statement sent chills up our spines as we tried to imagine a future without a new Camaro."
Now I know that Red Planet has said for all of us to be patient, and that things don't change over night.
I understand and respect that, but for this guy to say that GM has no commitment to the F-Body......
Well, since I can't say anything nice I won't say anything at all.
What do you guy's think?

OK, but listen to what he said:
"...no plans for the F-Body..."
He DID NOT say no plans for Camaro/Firebird.
F-Body is a platform. Camaro & Firebird are cars... to be built on a different platform in the future? Hopefully!

He said they have "no commitment" to the f-body. Doesn't that just mean they're not dumping money into it right now? As has been said before, it doesn't mean that there aren't people at GM working on it, it's just not an official project. In any case, we should all just wait and see I guess

Let's not split hairs too finely here.

Well, if that's the case, then I guess their ability to respond to the gap left by the Camaro, which of course can only be replaced by a new Camaro, will serve as a "Litmus" for my continued support and business dealings with GM.
