starter burned up

all she does is click, once, when i try to start it, luckily its a manual and we could push start it

what options do i have other then an OEM replacement, i've heard about the LT4 starter being lighter, with a higher torque rating? is that true?
is there any out there that will work on the LT1 with longtube headers, that are lighter and more powerful?
might as well upgrade if i can....part numbers would be great

thanks
Steve

i just had the part # for that because while doing my mcleod clutch install i needed to replace it since the stock shims didnt leave it much room, i kno with the LT4 an the CVR starters they get in the way of the #8 primary on the LT's =/

Check out part number SUM-820323 @ Summit, it's on sale for $117.35. I just saw it in the catalog today and I'm not sure it will fit but it's probably worth a look.

my starter just quit to, and the oem replacement cost me about $95. Just out of curiousity, did yours "die slowly?" Cause mine quit all at once without any warning....very luckily, right in the garage.

i dont know if it died slowly or not, i was having starting issues for awhile b4 this but i chalked it up to a fuel problem, could've very well been the starter, i guess i'll find out when i get a new one!

how many teeth is the stock flywheel?
