Starter Advise

Has anyone changed the original starter for a stronger one? I was thinking of the GMPP 12361146 High torque mini starter. but dunno if it will clear my Hooker LT's. I would appreciate any input of anyone using this starter or any other starter.
Thanks

I know some ppl are running the LT4 starter, but I am not sure if it fits with headers or the PN.

In the search function you can find alot of info on this subject....

I looked real quick for the part # on the lt4, but too many to look through...

Tks Spinner. I just did a search under LT4 starter and found a lot of posts on the subject, but nobody listed the part number.
There were two different posts that claimed the starter pinion did not engage with the flexplate gear, that they were too far away??
Any ideas what might have gone wrong?

My LT4 starter works fine, and cranks faster than the LT1 starter did.. 160 shipped from Jason Cromer..
[I don't have LT's tho..]

I have not been able to find any specs on the LT4 starter. Is it a permanent magnet starter like the original LT1 starter? Does someone have information on the torque or power it delivers or the gear reduction ratio if any?

I managed to kill two stock starters in 68K miles on my stock engine with headers. When I did the stroker, I replaced it with a CVR ProTorque starter. That one has worked fine for about 4 years. It is a high torque gear reduction unit, and the motor can be rotated on the mounting flange to clear headers, etc. It was about $150 from JEG's, but they have not shown it in the catalog for the past year or so.
