Start or battery?
Start or battery?
Issue here is that occasionally the Camaro will not start. I'm told if you have a bad starter that it will either just work fine or not work at all.
The trouble is that you turn the key, it clicks, nothing happens. To me, that says battery. But the next thing is, if you put the key in auxilary, the CD player goes and everything works. You turn the key, sometimes it works, sometimes same thing happens.
Maybe my battery is just low and needs replacment? I do have a loud system and underdrive pulleys which rob the stereo and battery of power, which could lead to a low voltage at my next start possibly? Oh well, the CD player and the car itself are in the shop for broken Volume **** on Kenwood under warranty and my exhaust conveiniently rubbed a hole in one of my steel brake lines. On the same subject, would you guys recommend Z06 calipers or Baer? I think its possible they are almost identical. My brakes have not been so hot lately, I suspect worn pistons or just bad brake system all together. (1993 technology)

ive had the car for about 8 months and have never replaced the battery. i think ill go with a red top optima. you agree? i guess i didnt really pay attention to the lights, i was more concerned with getting it started before i was late to school.
Tell ya what...go outside and turn on the lights and try to start your car. If the light go real dim and almost out and the dash lights go dim as your cranking it .... its definately the battery. I think it is anyway. From what you said about underdrive pulleys and the sound system that is guarantee your problem.
one of these days i might get overdrive pulleys instead, so i dont cut off my battery like that. the optima has a 3 year warranty too. its not too big of a concern to get more power to the subs or anything, the money is going into the engine this time. when im not poor in college i am really liking your choice of 383 and heads cam. did you buy a new engine or did you work on the stock motor? I know that Agostino does a wonderful job on their LS1 engines. One of these days ill get a 2000 or better Z28 and put in a 383 or bigger NA all the way.
I spun my bearings when the car had 79K on it. Before then I had only a CAI, Air foil, MAF, pulleys and catbacks. I didn't know crap about motors. I researched here and did some reading. With the help of suggestions on this board and a friend, I rebuilt this motor myself. I'm real hapy with it and quite suprised actually. I don't have any regrets. There were a little problems I ran into but thats expected.
