Stage?# Heads and other ?

After college, I'm gonna get a 95 or 96 Z28. I want to supercharge it, Heads, exhaust, everything. I'm talking low low 11's or even mid 10's when I'm done.

It is gonna be a 6-speed. When supercharging, can you upgrade to Stage 1 or 2 heads, or does that f*** with the compression ratio? Is there a Stage 3 Head?

I have a whole list of questions, but I'll just start with these.
Thanks guys.

Well usually when people go with a ported head on a forced induction setup, the lower compression ratio is a desired item. The head can always been milled to achieve something lower, or smaller dish pistons or something. To get you into the low11's/high10's, traction will be more important than raw power. Kick down 2000 or more for a brand new 12-bolt or 9" from strange or moser. Kick down another 500 for a star stage 3, less if used but I wouldn't put a used clutch in a car that fast. The T-56 will stand up to the abuse, maybe add a denny's chromemoly driveshaft or something.

As for the engine, stage II heads with a nice blower cam will do you righteous, you want generally 10* more exhaust and at least 114 lsa. You are going to want big cubes to get max power out of that motor. A 383 is good, not too big not too small so you aren't compromising strength of the internals or power levels. You will also want to use long tube headers. And as for the blower a Vortech T-Trim or ATI D-1 at 15 psi should suffice. Of course you will need a ****load of fuel and spark but it can be done. Take it in steps and don't penny pinch because it will end up costing even more money in the end. Good luck for whenever you start this project.

wow.

um. I'm a little speechless. You know your ****.

A few questions:

Milling the heads? Are you talking about making them smaller or larger to get lower compression?

what is a blower cam? Is that just a cam that was designed for supercharged motors?

what is 114 lsa?

I've heard of some pretty big problems with strokers w/blowers. Wouldn't a stroker kit + Blower + Intercooler/Aftercooler + LT and True duals + heads = like somewhere around 600-700 hp at the crank? Isn't that a bit much? even for mid 10's?

I have heard nothing but great things about ATI, and just good things + a few problems about Vortech. The ATI looks really cool on a 4th gen.

What kind of power gains could I expect from the ATI on a stock motor? And what kind of gains AFTER full intake, exhaust, and heads and cam have been done?

Thanks for your time and help.

Milling increases compression, which is bad for a blower. For heads, they will need to open the combustion chamber up more to decrease the compression ratio. A nice blower cam will have bleed-off so the compression wont actually be as high.
