Springs for the GM 847 cam?
Springs for the GM 847 cam?
What springs would be ideal for the GM 847 cam? Here are the specs on that cam:
Duration @ .050 = 232/242*
Lift with 1.5's = .539/.558"
Lift with 1.6's = .575/.595"
LSA = 112*
The Comp Cams website says to go with the 26986-16 springs on their two bigger "XFI" cams (the 847 appears to fall in between those two), not sure if those would be ideal for the 847 though. From what I can gather, the 26986 are the Beehive version of the 986 dual springs.
Also, if this matters, I am running the Crane gold self aligning 1.6 rockers. (these: http://www.jegs.com/i/Crane/270/10758-16/10002/-1/744608|10231 )
Thanks
edit: I also want to find out if the recommended springs will fit on the stock LT1 heads without any extra machining.
edit2: Looks like I'll be switching to NSA rockers + guideplates and selling off the SA ones I have now

Well, to be honest most guys aren't going to post on this thread because topics like this have been beat to death.
You don't have to hear from some1 that has that cam to get valuble info. The PAC 1218 springs w/Comp 795 retainers, the factory locators and some +.050 614 Comp locks will put you in the happy spot.
